News on My Radio Today

My "Prep" Corner

I don't usually listen to the radio while I'm doing preparations for my homemade soup or for supper but today I did and finally there was news that wasn't about war or devastation!!

The 1st one was an interview with the maker of the new documentary film called Last Train Home in which he followed 1 family in China for 3 years as they make their annual trek home for Chinese New Year to see the children they left behind with grandparent 16 years previously so they could find work in the factories in the big cities ... they only get to see them ONCE every year for a few days!

The 2nd one was an interview with 2 very elderly ladies who back in the 1960s realized that local teens needed help to succeed. Help to understand the world around them. Financial help to get them through college and with the aid concerned parents, they began with $35.00 per month each for the 6 teens they sponsored each year -- but they made a difference.
